Chartered by Congress in 1967, the National Park Foundation, official philanthropic partner of the National Park Service works on behalf of America’s more than 400 national parks and their programs, safeguarding our heritage, and inspiring generations of national park enthusiasts. The National Park Foundation carries forth a legacy of support that began more than a century ago, when private citizens took action to establish and protect our treasured national parks. The Foundation fulfills its mission in partnership with the National Park Service and with countless affiliated local park Friends Groups, funding programs that promote leadership and innovation in conservation and preservation, educate youth and adults alike, encourage volunteerism, enhance the park visitor experience, and connect diverse communities to our shared heritage.
